So my parents have finally decided that they aren't going to torture me for the next 2 years to finish my piano lessons up to level 7. The only reason I was doing it in the first place was to get an extra credit for highschool, but it was never really worth it for me. I am at level 5 right now, I just recently didn't pass my level 6 exam. I have mixed feelings on this right now. I guess I'm a bit happy, I mean who wouldn't be after they are finally released from the thing that they hated most. At the same time though, I'm not sure if I should feel a bit disappointed that I didn't stick with it till the end. Will I regret this in the future? Will this affect my mindset for the rest of my life? I guess I'll just have to wait and find out... Of course just because I stopped for now doesn't mean that I can't go back and take it up if I want, but really the chances of that happening are slim to none.
On a different note, I recently discovered this really neat thing called
steampunk. I think that it really interests me because it combines my love of victorian style fashion and technology. It also has this sort of fantasy/sci-fi/alternate timeline feel to it. I am definitely considering making some steampunk goggles, they would be wicked.
Now that I really think about it, I probably liked steampunk all along, I just never really had a name for it. For instance several movies in my favourites list would be: League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, 9, several Studio Ghibli movies and Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. These could all be considered steampunk, or at least they have some steampunk qualities(in my opinion anyways). I think it's really cool how we can go our whole lives liking something without even knowing that a lot of other people like it too and it even as it's own name and everything.
